Are nano reefs hard to keep?

Stating that nano reefs are hard to keep is an urban legend, either that, or it's old news. There are a lot more equipments for nano setups today than what was available in the past and as long as you follow our guide, keeping a nano reef will be anything but hard. We've kept many different types of nano setups over the years in this hobby and we never experienced a crash. Remember, advices are great, but like everything in this world, your trial and error is also very important.

05
Does it cost a lot to keep a nano reef?

An honest answer is more towards yes than no, but this depends on what costing a lot means to you. The initial cost may cripple your wallet a bit(if it's a high-end setup you are looking to build), but once you have it up and running, it's all maintenance from there. Also, fish only tanks are a lot cheaper than reef tanks and addition of sump, skimmer, led lighting will be more costly. If you want a nice small fish tank and you don't want to break your bank, there are always some equipments which you can adjust your spendin on.

06
Can you keep SPS corals in a nano?

Yes, we've done it plenty of times and so have many other nano reefers. Monitor your water conditions, your salinity and make sure you have enough lighting. Work with whatever additives that works for you and adjust accordingly. If you're wondering if it's hard to accomplish? It's really not.

07
Why choose nano reef over a big tank?

Not all of us are made out of money. We live in New York and our room is the size of a closet, one big leap and you're across the other wall(Well, two big leaps but you get the point).

Not everybody likes everything "BIG." Some people love their Civics while some love their F150s. Sometimes it's not even about the money, it's personal preference.

Take what you can afford. If you love the reef, going small isn't so bad. Besides, keeping pets are healthy for you.
